Google Earth screenshot of the Argo floats on an SST map with ocean currents

The background map is the latest SST (sea surface temperature) from satellites. The rainbow colour scale runs from -2°C to 36°C, with dark blue being the coldest, and deep red the warmest water.

The current arrows indicate the flow of main ocean currents. The arrow sizes are not related to the current speed. By checking the box next to a current name (1) you can bring up a round icon, which links to a balloon with information about that current.
